This is where you select which image/video to display on the background. It's best to use an image/video with the same dimensions as the image/video you are keying, since the background will be resized to fit the input video. Preview Displays a preview of the opened image/video.

This is where you set the color of your background. Color-difference matte and detail matte uses either the primary color or exact color. Hue, shadow and lightness mattes uses the exact color. Difference keying is also set up here. Great results can be achieved using the hue, shadow and highlight mattes in combination with difference keying.

The hue matte is basically the same as a chroma keyer. It's designed to be used together with the shadow and highlight mattes for best results. You can use difference keying on the hue matte. Hue width Here you adjust the width(0-360°) of the hue which is to be transparent. When adjusting the threshold, the area which will not be included in the matte will turn magenta.

On the input tab you setup any processing that takes place before the video is sent to the keying/spill suppression functions. Video file name This cannot be edited. It's automatically set when opening video. Shows the current loaded video file. In case of an image sequence, only the first filename in that sequence is shown.

Keying is a selection of techniques used for compositing two frames together. Color difference keying Color difference keying is a pretty old(but great) technique used to remove a colored background. Since it works by manipulating the basic RGB channels, the background has to be colored in either red, green or blue. Unlike chroma keying, difference keying works best with a pure red/green/blue background. Following this advice the result can be very good.

The main window consists of the main menu at the top. Followed by the toolbar containing often used functions and render/preview on/off buttons. The tabbed section is where you do the actual adjustments when keying. At the bottom of the window the preview area is located. This is where you create and edit masks. The masks are based on Bezier-splines and very flexible. Use them to create garbage mattes and more.
